Spring housecleaning is a chore. Especially when you get to the spare bedroom where all the how to books, self help and DIY manuals, magazines, extra Bibles and CD’s live. Oh my what a wealth of information we have at our fingertips. It is everywhere, in any form imaginable.
Yet we still live in houses that need repair, we are still overweight, our cars still break down and we financially live from paycheck to paycheck and we try to fill the space God wants to inhabit with a million other things.
Information might be plentiful but its pretty useless without revelation.
I heard that phrase the other day, information without revelation is meaningless. I love that phrase, it is true. Read all the information you want but unless God reveals something to you about that information that you did not understand before, it is information that you never put to use.
Knowledge from the information you read isn’t understanding just because you read it, it is understanding when you obey it. This is where it gets a little uncomfortable. Lots of people read the Bible, to lots of people it is just information that sits on a shelf.
I love how Ephesians 1:17 slips so perfectly in here. “ I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know Him better.”
A revelation is when God’s word becomes your reality, it is a willingness to trust and to obey. Only God’s word mixed with faith will get you to revelation. That is the point where all the information you ingest will become meaningful and not just words printed on a page.
Father, I pray that you will give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know you better.
………..and so I ride
