Be Still And Know That I Am God

Be still and know that i am God

There are times in life when the answers you are looking for are elusive and the things you thought you knew to be true of your life no longer feel true. God feels like He is a thousand miles away and playing hide and seek with you. What you once took for granted as truth seems like a cruel joke as despair and heartache settle into your soul. The support you crave so deeply is hidden in a forest so thick that you get lost trying to find it. God seems to have taken an extended vacation and you were not invited.
Those are the times that you grab hold of the things you know to be true of God. You take those things and wrap them around you like the warmest cloak on the coldest winter night.
God is our Creator- God is Love- God is full of justice and mercy- God is eternal- God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow- God is the Great Healer- God is the ultimate planner- God cares for you
Those are not facts that might be true or could be true if only you behaved better or weren’t a sinner or any one of a thousand things. Those things are hard and fast truths that you can COUNT ON.
It could be that the prayers you think are not being answered are in all actuality being answered in the grandest way possible but in a way that seems so stupid to you that you are having trouble holding to the truth of the Sovereignty of our Father.
It could be that you are in a place called preparation. Preparation is a beautiful place to be as God reveals what that is inside you has not been unleashed up to now.
So if you are wading through the forest take comfort in the fact that God is clearing the path in the way he deems necessary. He will show you to the clearing and He will be waiting there for you.

Vanishing Truth

Vanishing Truths
We have all seen it many times.
I’ll give you an example. I sit in an interview and the person across from me swears to me that children are all they have ever wanted to do, it is their life’s dream and they would do anything to have this job.
Then the winds change a little bit.
You pick the scenario, the boss tells them to change the way they do something, or they are disciplined, or maybe it ends in dismissal from the job.
Quick and fiery tempers rage.
Suddenly you find yourself warding off vicious gossip, vindictive actions and more than a little bit of hate and discontent.
It is sad to watch a person wage war against the very organization that they swore was their dream job and calling not too long ago.
Or even worse, they post vicious attacks on Facebook and of course the final slap in the face, they block you totally. Ok I’m being sarcastic about Facebook but you get the point. We have all acted this way at one time or another.
I think that God must see that more often than we do. God is a good companion as long as things are going our way and life is free and easy. Let the going get tough however and threats and grumbling are free flowing from our lips as our tempers flare.
Instead of swearing on God we end up swearing at God.
The thing is, God’s truth didn’t vanish, our version of the truth did. It is pretty easy to be deceived by Satan and there is no better opportunity for Satan to gain a foothold than things aren’t going our way.
It seems pretty unfair that the God we love, worship and walk hand in hand with every day would let the storms of life fall on us like they do. How could God let ones as righteous as we are suffer so much?
We stand and watch as our world is falling apart and we are powerless to stop it. Sometimes we feel the only control we have is lashing out and all too often God is at the receiving end of our verbal tantrum.
When someone has hurt or offended us we feel justified in losing our tempers. The question isn’t so much Why and much as Why ME God?
This kind of anger is never justified as it is selfish and the whole object is to hurt someone in the same fashion we have perceived they hurt us
We turn to complaints and criticism instead of prayers and praise. That’s pretty bold and brazen don’t you think? You start in the dark and alone, the darkness and loneliness are probably going to be your only companions until your attitude changes!
It is not our job to punish those who offend us, read Ephesians 4:31, let all bitterness, indignation and wrath be banished from you.
Have faith dear friends, God didn’t bring us here to leave us hanging. God created everything, this situation included, we aren’t in charge, never have been, never will be. We can blame God, complain, and get mad over what is happening. It probably isn’t going to change a thing.
Instead of foolishly splashing our temper tantrums all over the place we can trust that God knows what He is doing and simply give Him our hurt, pain and bitterness. Stop being unwilling to trust God with situations that hurt.
He can and he will give us peace, comfort and strength. His plan is perfect and has been for a very long time.

Ephesians 431

I have seen many, many posts from people wishing each other a happy, healthy and productive 2015. For some of us 2014 was a year of upheaval and changes and for some 2015 has already promised to bring much of the same. When we see our life heading in a direction that is not so pleasant we tend to gravitate to the “oh poor me” frame of mind. That is when we turn to God but we forget to leave the “oh poor me” attitude behind.
We all know God has a plan for our lives. (Jeremiah 29:11)
What we tend to forget is the road God sometimes chooses for us to travel is often not easy.
Making reliance on God more than lip service in our lives can be a little bit like being thrown against a rocky shoreline by mighty waves……..again and again.
Like we do a thousand other things in our lives, we gravitate to God in ways that are easiest for us. We seek the “feel good” spirituality that is readily available and easy to find. We reason to ourselves that life just sucks therefore we deserve an easy, relaxed and instant road to a relationship with God. We take the easiest route we can find and are surprised when we find ourselves driving the wrong way down a one way street.
Sometimes God wants us to be seekers. Sometimes He throws landmines in our way that we never in a million years expected. When we become seekers on a deep and desperate level we often find truth we didn’t realize we were even looking for.
If God is leading you somewhere, keep traveling for His power will get you there and His grace will meet you there.
If God is leading you somewhere, keep traveling and let His spirit guide you and His hands protect you.
If God is leading you somewhere, keep traveling and let His wisdom, love and mercies sustain you.
If God is leading you somewhere, keep traveling and let His peace calm your fears and His arms dry your tears.
If God is leading you somewhere, walk in faith for there is no where you could go that our mighty God cannot find you.
