Well that’s a fair question and that’s a good question isn’t it.
“O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar, you discern my going out and my lying down, you are familiar with all my ways.” (Psalm 139:1-3)
And the answer is, apparently yes He does.
So why do we live as if God doesn’t know every single thought, every single want and desire we have?
Do we think He’s not listening or He’s not paying attention or that we get so many “gimme’s” before we have to pay the piper? It is probably more like, yea I know what the bible says, I know what God is telling me, but it’s easier to live by my standards than Gods standards. It has worked so far, right?
We think we aren’t hurting anyone when we ignore God, however I keep thinking of proverbs 16:25. There is a way that seems right but in the end it leads to death, or Galatians 6:7—8 —9—10 “7 Don’t be misled. Remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it. You will always reap what you sow! 8 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of decay and death. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. 9 So don’t get tired of doing what is good. Don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.”
We can ignore God all we want but just because we ignore the truth doesn’t mean the truth has changed. You can’t ignore God and get away with it forever. Somehow, someway, Gods gonna catch up with you.
I think too that maybe we are disregarding a few other things here? How do you think god feels when we ignore Him? Well, how do you feel when during an important speech or presentation you give no one stops talking and in fact they blatantly keep right on doing what they are doing, ignoring you and your speech. How do you feel when you are totally ignored in a dept store or in a restaurant. You feel disregarded , alone and disrespected. You think God feels any different?
We can’t ignore God’s only Son,
He is the Lord, the Holy One;
He is the source of life and grace,
The One who died and took our place. —Fitzhugh
He is a fool who ignores God.
May we be able to say with the psalmist, “My soul follows close behind You” (63:8).
Just a thought………
………and so I ride
