Trust God…………… one step at a time.

When we are faced with change we tend to want to see the big picture, we want guarantees and we want a detailed map of the future. We might even have old tapes of the Sinatra song “My Way” playing in our head.

However God gives us a better plan for the changes that come to us in life, whether those changes be big or small.(Jeremiah 29:11)

Having a plan given to us is a wonderful thing unfortunately , being weak in nature, we still manage to stress over it and we adamantly refuse to acknowledge that certain changes might actually be good for us.

When our vision of our future and God’s plans take different paths it is hard to stay the course and just trust. We forget (or refuse) to believe or acknowledge the old saying; it might not be a door closing as much as a window opening. We have to muster up the courage to get the window cleaner out and look through the window to our future, eventually climbing through it to freedom.

Make no mistake, while we are wavering and living in uncertainty, the devil is watching and waiting. He doesn’t need an invitation to gain entry to our world and uncertainty and fear is as good a foothold as any. He will try to convince us that we are unable to do this thing that God is asking of us and he will actually place a neon billboard in your mind of all the catastrophe’s that will befall us if we march forward. I know, I have seen the billboard!

This is an uncertainty that is born only of the darkness, don’t fall into that trap, grab your armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and hibernate within the promises.

I have learned the hard way that to ignore God’s nudging in our lives can be a recipe for disaster. It is better in the long run to quit worrying about things that may or may not happen, to make the necessary adjustments and look to God for the strength and grace to do it with a God given dose of courage and dignity.

Perhaps Corrie Ten Boom said it best, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God”
Cancel fear with faith and march on.

………………and so I ride
