Time to practice the promise .

Tihis week is going to be challenging with big decisions in the works. There  have  been important discussions, meeting upon meeting, texting of questions to very patient friends (thank you Rita Wagner) and lots and lots of prayer.

It has tested my inner control freak to sit back and listen, well truth be known it was hard to even ask for guidance let alone ask for an answer when I did not know what the answer was to be.

These scriptures helped me.

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go, I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

I believe He wants to guide me with the wisdom and kind of love only He possesses. I want Him to guide me in grace, love and wisdom and get my stubbornness and selfishness out of the way.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths.

I have to meditate and think on this scripture because it takes practice, patience and most of all trust. When there are big decisions to be made such as the situation I am in right now, I can only speak for myself but I tend to feel  that I can’t trust anyone  but myself with such a big decision and I look inward instead of upward. It takes  all I can do to let God guide me in the direction that He wants me to go. I tend to forget in a situation like this  that He wants what is best for me even more than I do. Yes I have input with God and I take time to work through all  the things involved with a big decision but I must be careful not to place my trust and final decision on my own wisdom but instead place it on God’s wisdom.

And finally John 16:13 When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak and He will declare to you the things that are to come.

This verse spoke  to me of the  Divine inspiration of the scriptures  and how God uses His word to  teach, guide, inform and illuminate us today. He will  take me by the hand and  guide me to the truth. He promises to show me what I may not understand but I have  to remember that He may only reveal this one small step at a time, revealing only as much as I need to get to the next step. This is where I have problems, this is where  I learn to trust and hang onto Him for all I am worth.

So Father, Guide me with your wisdom, guard me from my own stubbornness and give me a heart to follow where you lead.
